FAQ

PORTRAIT SESSION

The most successful portrait session starts with you and I discussing your portrait needs.  We will start by having a consultation over the phone, during which we will discuss the style and type of images you are looking for me to capture.  Following our discussion I will design a customized photo session with the goal of capturing images that can also be creative art for your wall.  At this time we will also discuss the location and clothing choices.

WHERE DOES OUR PORTRAIT SESSION TAKE PLACE

You get to decide where you would like your photos to be taken.  Whether it’s inside your home or outside at a park, an old abandon building or on a farm, there are no limits as to where you can have your portrait session.  I prefer using natural light but am also equipped with studio lighting for any indoor portraits.

WHAT TYPE OF CLOTHING SHOULD WE WEAR

I always tell my clients to wear clothing with neutral colors such as beige, brown, blue, denim and earth tones.  Try to avoid too many patterns, logos or designs so that when you look back at your photo there is a sense of timelessness and not necessarily what’s trendy.  However, you still want your personality to shine thru these photos so don’t shy away from accessories like a hat, scarf, boots, etc.  If you have any doubt, you can always bring a couple of clothing items and I will be happy to help you choose which one works best for your session.

HOW DO I ORDER MY PRINT

Approximately 2 weeks after the photo session I will schedule a viewing time where I will come to your home for an in-person ordering session.  You are welcome to invite your relatives or anyone else of your family and friends who may be interested in ordering prints.

WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION

You should schedule your session as soon as possible so that you get the date you are looking for.  Saturdays tend to book quickly and are normally booked in advance for weddings.  Mornings and evenings are the best time for outdoor portraits, and depending on your child, you may want to book the appointment in the morning, as they are normally happier and full of energy first thing in the morning.  It’s a great time to capture candid happy moments if you have a little one in your family.

NEWBORNS

Newborn Sleepy Poses portraits are offered within the first 10 days of your baby’s life.  These days go by so fast especially for new parents, therefore book your appointment while you are still expecting to ensure that I block off some time around your due date.  I will keep in contact with you and once your baby is born I will confirm your appointment for your Newborn photos.  It’s best to book ahead of time so it becomes one less thing to think about after you give birth.  You do not want to lose these precious memories of your tiny baby.  I will use simple props and pose your baby in positions that will only enhance the sweetness and miracle of this new life.

MATERNITY

Capturing your baby bump around 32 to 35 weeks is the best time to capture your well-rounded tummy.  You do not want to book your portraits too much later as you may feel too uncomfortable for your session.  I always suggest booking your newborn portraits at this time too.

IF WE ARE IN A BIND AND NEED TO CANCEL OUR APPOINTMENT, WHAT HAPPENS

When you book your session you will be required to pay the session fee plus hst.  In the case of an emergency of scheduling conflict you will have 48 hours to cancel your appointment without penalty, if you do not provide sufficient notice of cancellation you will lose your session fee.  Please ensure advance notice if there are any changes to your schedule.
